About

Welcome! I’m Shannon, a homeschooling mom, writer and lifelong learner.  My mission is to encourage “Mom-Improvement.”

We all want what’s best for our kids, and sometimes that means making changes in ourselves. I have faults that I don’t want to be reminded of day after day as they manifest themselves in my offspring. Faults I’d rather not see climb through my family tree. Teaching myself to be a healthier, more disciplined, more relaxed person will benefit me and my entire family. You know that quote from Ghandi, “Be the change you want to see in the world?” Yeah, that’s where I am right now. But I’ll just start out with my family and perhaps save changing the world for a later date.

Here at Mom Improvement, I’m blogging about making changes. Becoming more fit. Learning to be more patient. Organizing my days and cultivating a strong learning environment for my children. I hope you’ll join me as I discover useful personal development tools and share them with you. In 2011, I am challenging myself to 365 days of perseverance and blogging about it at The Discipline Project. I’d love for you to join me there, too!

I’m against big government, so when I get all fired up about something you might find the occasional political post here.

On a more personal level, I enjoy scrapbooking, skiing, traveling, and shopping. I am an agnostic, libertarian, individualist in favor of capitalism, hands-off government, and the separation of school and state.   I live in northwest New Jersey with my husband, son and daughter.
