BlogHer 5K
I’m excited to announce the annual BlogHer 5K is scheduled for Friday, August 6, 2010 in New York City! My goal in organizing the 5K Fun Run is to give BlogHer conference attendees some time out of the hotel, exploring the city and bonding with other BlogHers through a fun, healthy event. This is not a timed race.
This year I’m pleased to offer two 5K events and a post-event breakfast, and I am partnering with Tutus For Tanner to raise awareness for Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and to honor Catherine’s nephew Tanner. To support Tutus for Tanner, just pull on a tutu for the BlogHer 5K run/walk! C’mon, how much fun will this be? Buy a tutu or try your hand at making your own.
Black Hockey Jesus is going to be running his tutu off, raising money for DMD. Read more about that here, and please give by clicking on the ChipIn widget in my sidebar and adding the widget to your blog.
- Central Park: Run or walk through beautiful Central Park, covering a distance of about 3 miles (5K is 3.1 miles). Due to permitting issues, we need to limit the number of participants and stagger our start times. This route is now full. You can view the route map here.
- Broadway: Run or walk a 3.1 mile loop through exciting midtown Manhattan! Start at the hotel at 6:30 am and travel down Broadway, through Times Square, and past the Empire State Building, Grand Central Station, and the Museum of Modern Art. This route is now full. Dr. Jean Layton created this route and will serve as your guide. You can view the map here.
After the event, BlogHer will provide us with breakfast and a place to gather and congratulate one another.
Registration for the BlogHer 5K is now full.
